Our commitment
NordNest is committed to making nordnest.fi accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as referenced by the EU Web Accessibility Directive (2016/2102/EU) and its implementing decision.
What we have implemented
Semantic HTML
Pages are built with proper landmark elements (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>), headings in logical hierarchy, and lists where appropriate.
ARIA labels
Interactive elements that require additional context (icon-only buttons, navigation links, form inputs) include descriptive ARIA labels and aria-describedby attributes.
Keyboard navigation
All interactive elements — links, buttons, form controls, accordions — are reachable and operable using only a keyboard. Focus order follows the visual reading order.
Visible focus indicators
Focus rings are clearly visible on all interactive elements, using a high-contrast red ring that meets WCAG 2.1 SC 1.4.11 (non-text contrast).
Colour contrast
Text and background colour combinations across the site meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
Alt text for images
All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use an empty alt attribute (alt="") or aria-hidden="true".
Responsive design
The site is fully functional at zoom levels up to 400% and on screen widths from 320px upwards, without requiring horizontal scrolling.
Form labels and error messages
All form fields have associated labels. Validation errors are announced to screen readers using role="alert" and are clearly associated with the relevant field.
Known limitations
Date picker (booking calendar)
The interactive date-range picker may present challenges for screen reader users. We are working to improve keyboard and screen reader support for this component. As an alternative, contact us at info@nordnest.fi and we will assist with your booking directly.
Physical property accessibility
Physical access: Our Kontinkangas apartment is in a building with a lift — no stairs required. Our Linnanmaa apartment is in a residential building with stairs and no lift.
If you have mobility requirements, please contact us at info@nordnest.fi before booking and we will confirm the floor level and access details for your chosen property.
